Stanley brought a toy tapir and giant tortoise into school to show us all. Stanley knew lots about why a tapir and an ant-eater are different. Some children wanted to know which was bigger, the tapir or the giant tortoise. I’ve been finding out lots about both – check out these video clips!

We’ve been having fun today in Forest School thinking of our own versions of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. We chose some of our favourite things in Forest School and described them using the patterns from Michael Rosen’s story poem.

Matiin brought in a terrific ammonite fossil today which he bought in a museum in Scotland. I found some websites which give some more information about them today.
http://www.nhm.ac.uk/kids-only/earth-space/fantastic-fossils/ (this website has great pictures of fossils)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/life/Ammonite (this website has some video clips to watch)
Here’s a fact I just found out: Did you know that some ammonites were very small and others were as big as a man? What other facts about ammonite fossils can you find? Write them in the comments box below.

Today we have been thinking about ways to describe animals. Here are some of the ideas the children came up with…
The fox was as fast as lightning.
The hedgehog was a prickly as a thorn bush.
The bird was as colourful as a rainbow.
Can you add comments telling us about someone in your family?

I can’t wait to read your ideas!

Look at Thomas’ great learning he did today all about speech marks. He imagined a conversation between the Hare and the Tortoise.
Can you tell an adult what Thomas did well?
Can you tell an adult why he wrote ‘new learning’ beside his mistake?

We had a fantastic time at the EIS last week. We practised some football and basketball skills in the morning and then we tried out lots of athletics events in the afternoon. Matiin’s mum took these brilliant photographs. There are more photographs on display in the classroom. Can you leave a comment telling us what your favourite part of the day was?
